History

The grooving and grinding industry evolved from experimental applications of diamond saw blades and equipment. The industry can be traced back to the late 1940’s when a single diamond blade was first used on a concrete saw to groove pavement. Since that early tentative step, grooving, grinding and texturing with diamond blades has developed into what is today a multimillion dollar industry that is literally practiced around the world. Lester Kuzmick

The International Grooving & Grinding Association was incorporated in Lakewood, California in June of 1972. IGGA’s inception was largely due to the inspiration and driving force of Lester Kuzmick who envisioned an organization that could advance the collective interest of contractor members. IGGA has served as an industry focal point and promoting entity ever since.

American Concrete Pavement Association

In 1995, the IGGA joined in affiliation with the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) to represent its newly formed Concrete Pavement Restoration Division.

The IGGA / ACPA CPR Division serves as the technical resource and industry representative in the marketing of concrete pavement restoration to DOT’s, municipalities and engineers around the world.
