June 28–July 4: Honor the infrastructure that keeps America moving

Mark your calendars. Next week is the inaugural Concrete Pavement Week—running from June 28 through July 4, 2026—and the timing is no coincidence.
On June 29, 1956, a significant event occurred that shaped American infrastructure. On that date, President Eisenhower signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act, launching the Interstate Highway System. Seventy years later, we celebrate the durable, high-performing roadways that keep communities connected and our economy strong.
Concrete Pavement Week was established to spotlight the role concrete
plays in building roads that last. It's a chance to inform stakeholders,
agencies and the public about smart infrastructure investments and the proven results they deliver.
For you and your projects, the message is simple: concrete pavement strengthens infrastructure, protects drivers, supports sustainability and saves taxpayer dollars.
The case for concrete
The IGGA has long recognized and promoted the proven performance benefits of concrete pavement, including:
Built to last: Concrete pavements regularly deliver 40+ years of service life.
Resilient performance: Concrete stands up to heavy loads, extreme weather, and decades of traffic with minimal disruption.
Low maintenance: Fewer repairs mean fewer lane closures, accidents and fatalities, and lower long-term costs and safer work zones.
Environmentally responsible: Concrete absorbs CO2 over its lifetime, lowering the carbon footprint of the roads we build.
Fiscal sense: Long service life and reduced upkeep make concrete a sound investment for agencies and the public alike.

Join us in celebrating the first-ever Concrete Pavement Week. This is a moment to
take pride in the work that keeps our roads, runways and surface transportation systems strong and safe. To learn more, visit the Concrete Pavement Week website.
As we mark this milestone, we also want to hear about the infrastructure and pavement projects you have recently completed or are working on right now. Whether you are refining a diamond-grinding application, advancing a Next Generation Concrete Surface or solving a complex preservation challenge, your work reflects the excellence and precision that define our industry.
Share your project with us at https://www.igga.net/contact-us, and it may be featured in an upcoming IGGA eblast.
Let's make the first Concrete Pavement Week one to remember!
