Kansas I-70 EB Surface Texture Test Section OBSI Evaluation
OBSI testing of the I-70 Surface Texture Test sections was conducted on May 21, 2010. The results indicated the NGCS texture is the quietest at 100.9 dBA and the exposed aggregate the loudest at 104.5 dBA. The rank order of the sections from quietest to loudest was NGCS, longitudinally grooved drag texture, drag texture, conventional diamond grinding, longitudinal tined, and exposed aggregate. All textures have increased in level since their construction in 2008 with the NGCS indicating the greatest increase.

Kentucky Uses PMS to Reduce Costs and Improve Pavement Smoothness
Through implementing Pavement Management Systems (PMS), Kentucky serves as an example of one state that is successfully staving off the need for extensive and expensive pavement reconstruction. While CPP techniques include slab stabilization, full depth repair (FDR), partial depth repair (PDR), dowel bar retrofit (DBR), cross-stitching longitudinal cracks/joints, diamond grinding, and joint and crack resealing, the most common CPP technique used in Kentucky is diamond grinding.

Long Term Performance of Dowel Bar Retrofit in Washington State
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) initiated its first full-scale dowel bar retrofit (DBR) project for the repair of a severely faulted concrete pavement. DBR application, in conjunction with panel replacements and diamond grinding, has proven to be an effective rehabilitation treatment for faulted concrete pavements.

Low Noise Concrete Pavements - Smooth, Safe, Durable and Cost Effective Texturing (LNDG)
What is LNDG? Referred to as "Next Generation Concrete Surfacing” (NGCS), LNDG provides a low noise surface similar in acoustic performance to asphalt pavements. Concrete pavements with the LNDG surfacing treatment provide a quiet, smooth, safe, cost-effective and durable pavement texture which meets (or surpasses) the noise performance of asphalt, with lower life cycle costs.

Materials and Procedures for Repair of Joint Seals in Portland Cement Concrete Pavements
This Manual of Practice is an updated version of the 1993 SHRP Joint Seal Repair Manual. Many different sealant materials and resealing methods were investigated between 1991 and 1998 through test sites installed at five locations in the United States.
